The food truck craze that captured most of Florida has found its way to the University of Miami Medical campus and will arrive early next month.  In addition to the food trucks, the Market Company’s Farmers Market will return to the campus. Balans Restaurant, a future UM Life Science & Technology Park (UM LSTP) tenant will sell wine and beer, and local entertainment will perform every Thursday from 5 – 9 pm.

Beginning early March and continuing until June, UM LSTP will sponsor a weekly food and entertainment series at the UM Life Science and Technology Park building, located at 1951 NW 7th Avenue. Each Thursday the UM LSTP parking lot will turn into a party for everyone … staff, faculty, students, visitors, and neighboring communities are invited.  At this weekly gathering, guests can experience a variety of gourmet food from a dozen or more food trucks, purchase locally grown organic produce, honey, French pastries, breads, and plants, mingle with friends and co-workers, and dance to the sounds of local entertainment.

Getting to the UMLSTP site will be easier than ever – by trolley, car, bicycle, or walking. The campus trolley is scheduled to be operational the beginning of March … with loops around the campus.  There will be 2 loops within the Health District route – one loop will only circulate around the Health District; the other route will circulate around the Health District and the Marlins Stadium. The trolley will run each evening until 11pm. If you prefer to drive, there will be parking as well as bike racks available at UM LSTP parking lot. However you get here, don’t miss the chance to be part of one of Miami’s best events!
